Games : Identify - An old game starting with a man on a raft in a river

I keep trying to remember the name of that game.

The game starts with a guy on a raft that takes him constantly to a waterfall, which causes the game with a game-over. During the game he goes from coast to coast, trading and fighting.

I think I recall fighting with a bear and trading with an indian, or something along these lines.
