Games : How can I fix my ubuntu minecraft?

My minecraft launcher isn't working. I log in, press play, and then, my game crashes. I don't know what to do. It looks like it is starting, but it says, 'downloading' and then it completely wipes out. It loads up again, same launcher, but then that crashes as well. Please help me!
