Games : Why my basic pulse laser don't work?

Strange thing happens today. As usual I use the basic pulse laser from the initial sidewinder but this time when I shoot nothing occurs except the sound of laser firing. Meanwhile a light can be seen from the canon. Does someone had this problem before? how can I fix it? Thank for your answers.
