Games : Why can't I open Void Launcher on Mac?

Ok so recently i wanted to try out Crazy Craft and so i downloaded the latest version of the VoidsWrath launcher. Currently it is 2015 Feb. 5. Anyway so I downloaded the oracle java v6.0 but it says that since i have java v8.0 i can't have an earlier version so I thought, "Ok well then I'm just 2 steps ahead." so i downloaded the .zip file and opened it, placed the .jar on my desktop and double-clicked it. It opened up a window in my dock for maybe 2 seconds and then closed. What do i do? I have Mac OSX Mavericks. Can any of you all help me please? This is on minecraft for PC
