Games : Is there a workaround for the "Infernal Machine" level?

Whenever I start the "Infernal Machine" level (1 from last level, ignoring the bonus level) there is a major bug right at the start. When I climb down the first ladder I am on a platform lower than the door/opening, meaning I cannot get into the next room.

When watching youtube walkthroughs I see that there should be a platform level with the door so that I can exit the shaft by simply walking through the door. In my game, Indy will not even jump & climb into the door from the lower platform.

I have managed to download a save where the platform does appear but further in the level (when I use one of the machine pieces to turn on the power) a certain lift door does not open. It is the door where you need to run through the rotating platforms (which if you fail you will fall into the electrified water). Again, youtube walkthroughs show the door at the end of these platforms being open. In my game the door always stays shut.

I found a save with this door open, but the lift does not move...

I have managed to play every level with no problems, and ended up finding a save for the following level. I have never been able to complete this "Infernal Machine" level from start to finish.

Has anyone had the same problem and found a workaround? People have clearly been able to finish the level judging by youtube and various available save files online.
